Dharti Sheth, M.D., F.A.C.S., is
a board certified general surgeon. She completed her undergraduate
training at Wayne State University and went on to graduate from
its school of Medicine with 'high distinction' in 1994. The next
five years were spent at St. John Hospital and Medical Center
completing her general surgery residency program. After graduation,
she joined the Michigan Surgical Associates, P.C. as the only
female surgeon in that private group practice for four years.
Recently, she became a founding member of Surgical Specialists
of Michigan, P.C. in conjunction with her brother who is also
a general surgeon.
Dr. Sheth is well-trained in all
aspects of general surgery, including areas of gastrointestinal,
endocrine, oncologic, and laparoscopic surgery. However, her primary
area of interest is breast disease. Dr. Sheth is affiliated with
national organizations dealing primarily with breast-related issues.
She is involved in national trials, thus bringing to our community,
the most recent, state-of-the-art treatment options, such as the
sentinel lymph node biopsy. Dr. Sheth's office is also equipped
with a breast ultrasound machine for possible diagnostic and treatment
assistance. Additionally, she is affiliated with the Van Elslander
Cancer Center located on the campus of St. John Hospital and Medical
Center and therefore has the opportunity to offer a multidisciplinary
approach to breast cancer patients.
Through the group practice, Dr. Sheth has staff privileges
at a variety of hospitals including St. John Hospital and
Medical Center, St. John Macomb, Bon Secours, and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
