Akash R. Sheth, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board certified general surgeon. He completed his undergraduate training at Wayne State University. He graduated 'with high distinction' from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1991. Following this, he completed his general surgery residency training at St. John Hospital from 1991 to 1996. From 1996 to 2003, he was in private group practice at Michigan Surgical Associates, P.C. In the fall of 2003, he became co-founder and President of Surgical Specialists of Michigan, P.C.

     Dr. Sheth's many areas of interest and expertise include laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, oncologic (colon cancer, breast cancer, etc.) surgery and endocrine (pancreas, thyroid and parathyroid) surgery.

     Dr. Sheth maintains staff priveleges at St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Bon Secours Hospital, St. John Macomb Hospital, and St. Joseph Mercy of Macomb Hospital.
