We are a two physician general surgery practice, specializing in a broad spectrum of General, Breast, Colorectal and Laparoscopic surgery.  We are dedicated to providing high quality surgical care, while maintaining an open and personal rapport with patients and their families.  We offer a variety of flexible office hours and participate with most health insurance companies.


Surgical Specialists of Michigan, P.C. is conveniently located on the east side of the Detroit Metropolitan area in St. Clair Shores. Information about our practice location can be obtained by clicking on the 'office' button in the left navigation bar. In addition to our normal business hours, our doctors are on call 24 hours a day including weekends and holidays.


Our office phone lines are open weekdays from 9:00am to 5:00pm. When you call for an appointment, please have your insurance information available. In most cases, an appointment will be scheduled within a day or two of your phone call, but, if you are in extreme pain please tell the receptionist and an appointment will be promptly scheduled. We have a physician in our office Monday through Thursday available for immediate patient visits. After hours, please call 586/771-8900 and our answering service will route the message to one of our doctors on call.


We accept most health insurance plans. Our staff will tell you if we participate in your particular health plan. We ask that you pay any amount not covered by your insurance at the time of your visit. We also accept Visa and MasterCard.


Our physicians are on staff at St. John Hospital and Medical Center, Bon Secours, St. John Macomb Hospital Center and St. Joseph Mercy West.


If you require surgery, the doctor and scheduler will work with you to schedule the case quickly and conveniently. Normally, it takes approximately 4-5 business days to hear back from hospitals regarding surgery times, though emergent cases will be scheduled as quickly as needed. If your surgery requires that you stay in the hospital you will be seen daily by either the operating physician or one of our other physicians to assure your comfort and recovery.


If you have an extreme emergency, go to the emergency room at any hospital close to you and have the attendants call us immediately.
